Undergrad Position: Flood Extent Labeling

We are recruiting undergraduate students to assist labeling flood extents using NOAA aerial imagery. This work involves manually identifying and delineating flooded areas using GIS software and will contribute directly to an active research project on flood mapping.

What You Will Do

  • Manually identify and mask flood extent using GIS tools (QGIS)
  • Follow labeling guidelines to ensure data quality

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 8-10 hours per week, flexible schedule
  • Weekly progress check-in (less than 15 minutes)
  • Feedback session after finishing one region or target area

Schedule and Location

  • Mostly remote
  • In-person meetings for feedback sessions (Ryon 111)

Skills and Requirements

  • Basic familiarity with GIS software is helpful but not required
  • Reliable and able to meet weekly time commitments
